NEW Daphnia Toximeter II

he bbe Daphnia Toximeter has been in use for many years now in different monitoring stations around the world to detect. It has been redesigned over the last few months to be even easier to use and more reliable. The new DaphTox II has more easily removable daphnia chambers with an increased detection rate. A pre-heating/ filtration unit (5µm) with ultrasonic cleaning makes the sample treatment more efficient and eliminates blockages. The fewer number of tube connections leads to less maintenance and fewer spare parts thus reducing long-term operational costs and maintenance times.

Algae Situation in the Baltic Sea

Report from 2010-08-27 at 09.20 based on satellite images from the 26th August at 12.13 and 12.30.

Mostly cloudy in the Baltic Sea area. The earlier observed surface bloom in the Bothnian Sea cannot be seen due to the clouds. It may now also be dispersed. A small surface bloom is however seen in the southern Baltic Proper in the area where the July blooms were most prominent.
