In 2026, the 16th European Diatom Meeting will take place, for the first time, in Spain. After 15 years of tradition, it is finally our turn to host this exciting event, and we are thrilled to welcome the diatom community.
Diatomology has advanced thanks to the work of passionate scientists fascinated by all that these valuable alga e can indicate, as well as their role as an essential part of the intricate web of ecosystems that shape the planet’s biodiversity.
The community of diatomologists holds diverse perspectives on how to use diatoms as model organisms: in paleoecology, genetics, taxonomy, bioindication, industrial applications… and much more.
